Cultural heritage processes in the built environment
The project "Cultural Heritage Processes in the Built Environment" is a study of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "The Historic Center of Rome". UNESCO's description of the World Heritage site emphasizes that it is complex both in terms of its geographical extent and its many functions, and that its time layers span 3000 years of history.
This makes the city particularly interesting to study. What is made visible and what priorities are set in a place rich in historical remains, art and architecture? What experiences can be transferred to Swedish conditions? The purpose of the study is to investigate how the historic center of Rome is defined as a World Heritage Site, and how it is perceived and managed as a visitor destination.
The study is made possible by the fact that Jennie Sjöholm has been awarded the larger general scholarship in cultural preservation at the Swedish Institute in Rome, which means a stay at the institute in the fall of 2018.
