From Trash to Cash
Expansion of biorefinery feedstock supply by mobilization of woody residues from multifunctional silviculture treatments and marginal land operations.
The aims and objectives are to explore a broadening of the feedstock base to biorefineries, by investigating currently underutilized woody biomass residual assortments
- determine technically suitable management and production systems, and develop production cost functions for their use as biorefinery feedstock
- identify potential target conflicts, synergies and additional values
- evaluate the assortments’ suitability as biorefinery feedstockregarding
- policy leeway
- procurement cost and energy requirements
- technical suitability
- additional services and values
- benchmark against existing feedstocks (in particular branches & tops and sawmill residues), to identify assortments that can be broadly acceptable
