Stormwater&Sewers seminar no. 21:
Studying the performance of bioretention system in Sweden for 20 years
Webinar 17th of September 2024 at 10.00 - 11.00
In this seminar Godecke Blecken will summarize the results of his research on biofilters, which he has conducted over the past 20 years at LTU, looking at their performance from the perspectives of water quality, quantity, and maintenance.
Doctoral defence in Urban Water Engineering – Hendrik Rujner
September 27, 2024, 09.00 - 11.00
Luleå University of Technology, room E632
In his doctoral thesis ”Hydrological effectiveness of vegetated swales in controlling urban stormwater”, Hendrik investigated the hydrological function of vegetated swales in field experiments and by long-time monitoring of swales in Luleå and Skellefteå.
Opponent: Dr. Elizabeth Fassman-Beck, Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP), Costa Mesa, California, USA
Chairman: Ass. prof. Inga Herrmann, Luleå University of Technology
Welcome to participate in the public defence on the spot or online via Zoom. Contact Peter.Rosander@ltu.se for the link.
Stormwater&Sewers seminar no. 22:
Membrane filtration of anaerobically digested blackwater as a pre-treatment for struvite precipitation
Webinar 22 October 2024 at 10.00 - 11.00
In this study, Saida Kaykhaii investigates the use of ceramic microfiltration membrane to pretreat anaerobically digested blackwater, aiming to enhance its quality for downstream nutrient recovery via struvite precipitation.
Stormwater&Sewers seminar no. 23:
Toxicity testing of runoff from different building surface materials
Webinar 12 November 2024 at 10.00 - 11.00
At this seminar, Alexandra Müller will present the results of ecotoxicological testing of runoff from seven building surface materials commonly found on roofs and facades, or other surfaces in the urban environment. This knowledge could facilitate mitigative actions such as source control for the reduction of negative effects in receiving waters due to substances leached from building materials.
Stormwater&Sewers seminar no. 24:
Implementing source-separating wastewater systems when the existing sewer network lacks capacity – Considerations and consequences
Webinar 10th of December 2024 at 10.00 - 11.00
Letty Mora will discuss source-separating wastewater systems with local greywater management as an alternative for new urban developments where existing network lacks capacity. However, there are several possible configurations with different requirements that should be analyzed before choosing one of them.
